"A world of grief and pain
Flowers bloom
Even then."
These gorgeous flowers are all still in bloom in my garden - coincidentally, all shades of pink. What a delight, in November, to find such colour and life lurking among the faded blooms and dead leaves. It's as though they are determined to remind us, during the current 'lock-down', that beauty still exists and the cycle of life goes on.
Lady Bird Johnson said:
"Where flowers bloom, so does hope."
In 1963, as First Lady, and while the US was still grieving the death of John F. Kennedy, she started a 'beautification project' in Washington D.C., planting millions of flowers to improve the city for its residents and tourists. She also worked to protect wild flowers and promoted planting them along highways throughout the US.
Writing prompt:
What has given you hope this week? Perhaps like me you have spotted a flower still in bloom, or have seen one of the many lovely rainbows today? Maybe you have witnessed a small act of kindness? Write about hope for a few minutes.
