"I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship."
My husband is, and always has been, a passionate sailor. There is nothing he likes better than whizzing across the waves in a fresh breeze, his ear inches away from the water. He is confident and accomplished and therefore, I think, unafraid. Sadly, as a wimpy, novice sailor, I do not share his passion, or have his competence or self-assuredness. I could do with some sailing lessons.

Over the past year we have all had to face the challenge of the Covid pandemic, but I wonder what other 'storms' have come your way, that had the potential to make you feel afraid.
Writing prompts:
- Think about a time in your life when you have had to face a 'storm'. Perhaps it was a physical or mental illness, a relationship breakdown, an addiction, financial difficulties. How did you you cope? Did you learn to 'sail your ship'? Set a timer and write for seven minutes.
- Write about something you have learnt to do (recently, or in the past) that has empowered you and given you more confidence to face life's 'storms'.
- Is there something you would really love to learn, or be able to do, but you feel afraid to tackle it? Scuba diving? Flying an aeroplane? Learning a new language? Giving up smoking? Repairing a broken relationship? Write about it and how it makes you feel.
