Clouds

"Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add colour to my sunset sky.”

Rabindranath Tagore, Stray Birds

While on holiday in Northumberland we have seen some beautiful and unusual cloud formations. If I were an artist I would have painted them, or a poet and I would have composed a verse. However, I was content simply to stand and marvel at a wonderful, ever-changing cloudscape.

Writing prompts:

  • Close your eyes and imagine that you are looking up at the sky with clouds floating by. Now, bring to mind the things that are concerning, or worrying you at the moment. See yourself placing each one on to a cloud and watch it float away into the distance. Write about how it feels to free yourself of these worries.
  • Write about a 'cloud' that came into your life bringing rain. What happened?
  • Write about a 'cloud' that added colour to your 'sunset sky'.
