Reality or is it?
Is this the reality of life?
Self-isolation in the midst of a pandemic
Social isolation is the reality you get
The isolation wrapped up in care
The care you have for others carries on
Yet the interaction is only going in one direction
The incoming flights are quarantined
The PPE you need is locked away, too late
Is this the reality of life?
Listening to a world imploding in confusion
Listening to injustice, respect lost in hate
Everyone hearing the right platitudes of support
The love and concern you have is still there
We are a world in chaos, spinning, falling, dying
A society in lockdown, isolated degenerated
A sticking plaster used where massive change is needed
Is this the reality of life?
Music and words flow into our mind covering up our fear
We listen to the old songs for sense and security
Our minds slowly closing down to save our sanity
The peace that only familiarity gives
Locking out the new things that give light to tomorrow
A form of tunnel vision narrows our perspective
We need the rebel songs to rouse our apathy
Is this the reality of life?
We have learned and discovered so much
Yet every day we demonstrate how little that we know
Is it any wonder that our society tears itself apart?
No hope is overriding our images of future optimism
What is needed is a new energy, a spirit of discernment
An open mind and a vision of enthusiasm, possibility and care
Make our closed and narrow minds an open space, a hope for the future
