Stream of Consciousness Writing



Gather your chosen writing materials and sit comfortably, ready to write, with them in front of you. 

Select one of the following words and write it at the top of your page:

party        wave        friends      scissors      mountain

Turn your attention to the breath. Notice how the air feels a little cooler as it enters the nostrils and warmer as you exhale. Concentrate on your breath for a couple if minutes, feeling it go in and out, noticing the pause between the out breath and the next in breath.When other thoughts enter your mind, as they will, just notice them, without judgement, then bring your attention back to the breath. When you are ready pick up your pen or pencil and begin to write, using the word you have written at the top of your page as a trigger. Wherever your mind takes you keep writing. Don't plan or get anxious about spelling - just write.
