"On the last day of the world I would want to plant a tree." (W.S.Merwin)
Today I took my usual walk through the woods and saw the trees as if for the first time. The bark of each displayed so much beauty and wisdom. Cracked, deep-veined and furrowed, each tree had its own unique swirling, rippling patterns that spoke of seasons weathered in centuries past.
Writing prompt 1: Read the quotation above and ask yourself what you would do on 'the last day of the world.' Write for ten minutes without stopping.
Writing prompt 2: Look at the pictures below of the tree bark I discovered today. What do you see? Write it all down.
