"In order for the light to shine so brightly, the darkness must be present." (Francis Bacon)
So, here we are on the first day of the second national lock-down. There's certainly much to feel gloomy about: worries about work and money; fears about the physical effects of the corona virus; sadness at not being able to meet up with family and friends. Yet in the midst of the darkness and all that's bad, it's still possible for the light to sparkle and shine with moments and acts of goodness.
Writing prompt:
- What darkness is present for you at the moment? What are your greatest fears and anxieties? Explore them in your writing for a few minutes.
- Are there still moments of brightness during your day? Does the light still get through? Write about some of your positive, shining moments. Perhaps it was a phone call from a friend, your favourite song on the radio, the colour of autumn leaves, or sunlight sparkling in a puddle. Share those moments below in the comments box.
