'Butterflies are free to fly ...'

"We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty." Maya Angelou

This lovely Comma butterfly started life as a tiny egg then, became a nettle-guzzling caterpillar, before hiding away as a leaf-like pupa, finally emerging as this scallop-edged beauty.

Writing prompt:

  • Write about the changes you have gone through in your life.
  • Choose one of those periods of change and describe it further in your writing for seven minutes.
  • How do you think you will change over the coming years? Use you imagination to explore a future metamorphosis.
