"Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep you balance you must keep moving." (Albert Einstein)
"Nothing compares to the simple pleasure of a bike ride." (John F. Kennedy)
I have just completed my first tandem bike journal. It was bought for me by my husband as a Christmas present in December 2019, and begun in January 2020, just before the start of the Corona Virus Pandemic. I've recorded every ride we have done, and was filled with pride and amazement when I worked out the statistics.
78 weeks
90 rides
2,500 miles cycled
27.6 miles average per ride
JFK was right about the pleasure of a bike ride. It is a joy and delight to be a 'stoker', rolling along roads, cycle tracks, greenways and canal paths, observing life and nature, getting hot and sweaty, cold and wet, numb in the bum, aching in the joints. I couldn't have done it, of course, without putting absolute trust in my excellent 'captain'.
I've already started my second tandem journal!
Writing Prompts:
- Have you achieved something during this time of Covid that has surprised you, and filled you with pride and joy. Write about it, giving yourself a pat on the back.
- Write about a time you rode a bike. Was it a good experience? Describe what happened.
- Write about a time when you have put your faith and trust in another person to see you through a challenging time.
- Do you feel in balance at the moment? Write for seven minutes about being balanced or unbalanced.
