“Come to the edge," he said.
"We can't, we're afraid!" they responded.
"Come to the edge," he said.
"We can't, We will fall!" they responded.
"Come to the edge," he said.
And so they came.
And he pushed them.
And they flew.”
― Guillaume Apollinaire
Sometimes, it takes the encouragement of another person to enable us to take a daring leap into the unknown. We deliberate and procrastinate, perhaps because of a lack of confidence in our own ability, or fear of failure. A push from someone who has confidence in us may be all that's needed to empower us to embark on something new and fly high. It doesn't really matter if we fail at least we've emerged from our comfort zone, and started to believe in ourselves.
Writing prompt:
- Is there something you would like to do, but are too afraid, or lacking in confidence, to try? Write about it for seven minutes.
- Has there been a moment in the past when someone has given you a gentle push to get you started in a new direction? If so, write about what happened.
- What holds you back from taking a leap into the unknown?
