Poetry Particles

"There is not a particle of life which does not bear poetry within it." - Gustave Flaubert

One dictionary definition of 'poetry' is:

"A very beautiful or emotional quality." There is not a day goes by that I do not see poetry in some 'particle of life.' Today, on our ride by the canal, I've seen it in hellebores, catkins, grey wagtails and sunshine dancing on water.

 Writing prompts:

  • Write about 'a particle of life' where you have seen poetry today.
  • Put the word 'poetry' at the top of a blank page then write down the first thought that comes into your head and continue, without stopping, for six minutes.
  • Is there a poem in you waiting to jump out on to the page?
