Blue skies

Blue Skies
Smiling at me
Nothing but blue skies
Do I see

Bluebirds
Singing a song
Nothing but bluebirds
All day long

Never saw the sun shining so bright
Never saw things going so right
Noticing the days hurrying by
When you're in love, my how they fly

Blue days
All of them gone
Nothing but blue skies
From now on

I never saw the sun shining so bright
Never saw things going oh-so right
Noticing the days hurrying by
When you're in love, my how they fly

Blue days
All of them gone
Nothing but blue skies
From now on

Irving Berlin

I'm sitting at my computer, looking out at a cloudless, clear blue sky. The sun is shining, and it is hot. I'm am glad to see this beautiful, sunny and long-overdue weather. I hope summer is finally here.

When you look back, do you remember endless summers of sun? Maybe I'm looking through rose-coloured spectacles, but I do recall those summers when I was a child. The sun was hot enough to melt the tar between the cobbles on our street, and I'd sit poking it out with a stick, then get into trouble later for for ruining my white socks.

I especially recall 1976 when I was still at university and the months of June and July sizzled. That was a special time.

Iring Berlin was clearly in love when he wrote his upbeat, optimistic "Blue Skies" lyrics.
