These are strange times. Because of the lockdown, I'm finding that even though I have had to give up many of my usual activities and daily routines, there are other things that I am experiencing for the first time. Here are some of them:
- Taking a walk every day
- Communicating with my grandchildren via Whatsapp video
- Writing letters to people with dementia and their carers
- Queuing to get into my local Asda
- Not finding some grocery items that I want on the shelves
- Having to distance myself by 2 m from other people
- Using Zoom for three of the groups I belong to
- Recording on video a daily bedtime story for my grandchildren
- Really noticing, in a mindful way, birdsong and the beauty of nature
- Celebrating my grandchildren's birthday online instead of in person
Writing prompt: What things are you experiencing for the first time? Make a list of ten things. Now choose just one of them and write about that, in detail, for six minutes. How does it make you feel? What emotions does it bring up? Is it something you will continue to experience once the lock-down is over?

It feels like a never-ending weekend. It feels like being a child again. No worries and no stress. I have realised the amount of unnecessary stress I placed on uni and other aspects of my life. Now, I am calm. Having a picnic outside. Playing board games. Watching movies on Netflix with family. Family time. Making homemade food, the best. And baking. The amount of spare time I have, with the most precious people. At the same time, I miss my friends and my favourite people. So I remember them in my prayers. The birds singing, the beginning and end of my day. Trying to stay sane can be a challenge. Been very inactive, lately. But puzzle games keep me busy. Extra time to achieve my goals. This year was meant to be dedicated to my goals, and some can still be achieved. I am grateful to God for allowing me to see everyone before lockdown. No takeouts. No shopping. No gym. Feels weird with no routine. But let's enjoy being a child again. Lets focus on the good and have faith.
